Classical music nowadays

Classical Music Nowadays

Classical music was born in the Classicism, around 1730.

Back then, it had a symetric melody, regular rhythm within natural simplicity. Melody used to prevail over harmony , wich was simple and constant. Music could be religious or secular but almost always instrumental, extending the orchestra with new components and instruments, incorporing wind.

Classical music remained in the Romanticism and during the 19th century but it changed.
They wanted more feelings in their music, innovating throught passion and more complicated music. Melody was still the most important part but the Classical symetry was lost, using more accidentals. Rhythm became more flexible, it had more movement and pulsation. Instrumental music was very important, becoming a way to escape from reality, increasing even more the number of components in the orchestra. The vocal music consisted mainly of lieds and operas. The main opera schools were in Italy, Germany and France; the main composers of this era were Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Berlioz, Schubert and Tchaikovsky.

Now that you know the history of this kind of music, you should know that it's appearing again in a new and more modern form.

Artists like Lindsey Stirling, Pentatonix and Taylor Davis and many others are covering classics, creating their own pieces or simply creating a new kind of music mixing classical music with other styles like Rock, Electronic music or Pop.

My favourite musician of the ones mencioned above is Lindsey Stirling because she has made her own unique style and I really think that's amazing.

I'll leave you here some of her songs and covers and other songs of different artists:
